Mound View Neighborhood Association

The Mound View Neighborhood Association was established in 1995 for the purpose of bringing BEAUTY, PRIDE, and SAFETY to the neighborhood. Monthly meetings have been held since the association was established in 1995 and are regularly attended by neighborhood residents and representatives of the Police and Fire Departments and Coe College to inform the group regarding neighborhood accomplishments and concerns. The MVNA has a special connection to Grant Wood as he grew up in the neighborhood and was baptized at Central Park Church at 1700 B Avenue NE. In keeping with Mound View’s goal of bringing BEAUTY to the neighborhood, its members also gather to serve their neighbors with clean-up days, when able-bodied neighbors help each other with yard work and maintenance throughout the neighborhood. The Mound View neighborhood is very PROUD of its history, which is blanketed in Grant Wood’s artistic influence since his upraising at 318 14th Street NE. Finally, the neighborhood strives to provide a SAFE environment for its residents through partnering with the Police Department and its Weed and Seed Initiative, the Fire Department, and recently with the Code Enforcement Department, which will help to maintain safe living conditions for the areas renters.
